Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice please - Transfer to Les Coches Jan 17

 Poster: A snowHead

Hello,

This is my first post here but after browsing the forum it's clear almost everyone can benefit from the vast experience of the community!

Ill be traveling with my wife and 9YO on 7th January 17 from Grenoble to Chalet Les Arolles in Les Coches.

Unfortunately the Family Ski Company who I booked with don't have the best transfer times for my flight so I'm considering alternatives.

Right now I have a choice of ~660 euro private transfers (but a much shorter transfer from Grenoble) or 5 hours wait for the transfer bus in Geneva!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

Rent a car.
From £135 for a week for a small economy sized car from Grenoble airport if you use a car rental comparison site. You'll have fuel, tolls and maybe purchase of snow chains on top but it will be nowhere near 660 euros.
There's not that much difference in time between the drive from Geneva or Grenoble to Les Coches.

Do you know how much the tolls are roughly from grenoble to Les Coches?

How much are show chains, where do you get them from and when are they required (by law?)

thanks again!

8.60 euro - look on mappy.com for distance, time tolls etc.

It all depends. you can hire them when hiring the car, but they charge more for a week than buying a set at the supermarket. they are required when instructed to put them on by the police and of course when the road is covered in snow. Buy them at the hypermarche in Albertville.

@K0zb0, Wait for the bus. Have a meal and do some shopping in GVA.

Hire cars are just a load of aggro and unforeseen expense

@K0zb0, have you thought about the train? Les Coches is very close to Bourg-St-Maurice, and Family Ski will pick you up from there. That might be easier.

For train you need bus to station.
Have done it this way.
Reasonably regular bus service to train station.
Then train or bus to Chambery. Then train to Bourg or Landry.
As suggested, maybe "inconvenient" TO transfer may be as.good or better.
