Looking to pick up some new padded ski ties / straps and trying to work out what the difference is between a lot of them. For example...
Rossignol x2 pcs £9.50
Atomic Economy x10 pcs £15
Atomic Racing x10 pcs £25
There's virtually no details given on each of the product pages, so what I am missing? Why such a huge difference in price between them?

@skierbiggsy, maybe the racing ones make you go faster Spyderjon sells unbranded ones as singles for a quid or two, unless you really need 10.

Haha
Yeah saw them too
When there is such a price difference between two 'big brands' and then again still to the unbranded ones, just curious if there is any difference in quality, design etc or if it is the usual paying extra for a name then.

They're just a big piece of Velcro with a soft foamy bit at the end that fits between the two skis. That is it. Even if they were extra padded, I'm not sure what it would achieve. They're probable just charging what they think someone will pay – if you've just dropped £600 on a pair of skis, what's an extra tenner to stop them sliding around? £7 too much is what. Save your money.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Why do you want them?
We have mire than I can count, kicking around the floor of the garage...

My daughters race skis always seem to come with a pair of the things, we have a collection.
They stop the bases scratching/rubbing each other in transport, I used to use a small piece of neoprene with the old straps (that didn't have the foam bit) and still use B&Q pipe lagging around the edges of the skis or her race skis slice the ski bags to pieces during the season.

@Zorrac,
I use the foam lagging as well, also more to protect the bag than the skis. I've heard that you can get stuff that is used to protect the edges of doors while they are in storage/transport that might be a bit more durable.

Nothing wrong with Decathlon ones, good padding and only £2.99 a pair

@skierbiggsy,
Rossignol are French, so bound to be expensive. Atomic on the other hand ...

I use Voile or G3 straps. They hold the skis tighter and have multiple other uses as well.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I don't know the difference between those particular ties named above, but my experience of cheap v branded ties is that the cheap ties wear very fast, the others don't.
My heavier Briko & Head nylon ties have easily outlived the others. Best ties I have though are some unbranded ones for powder skis that aren't nylon and so don't fray

I'm with @Fergus, the best ski straps on the market. You can even strap your poles to your skis when your boot packing. A lots of the guides in Cham use them

The use those when putting skis in helicopter baskets also. You put the pole straps over the tips, twist them, then use one strap to tie the whole bundle. As a snowboarder I use them like big reusable tie-wraps: useful for lots of things.

Extremely useful. They don't last that long, but I find them indispensable. Good for holding tips together when skis are on a rucksack, make a handy hobo-chic replacement power-strap for my dirtbag ski boots etc etc. A true must--have purchase
