Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Extremely specific winter sports insurance question

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

I need cover for:

6 months
Europe
Ski instructing liability
Long trip duration (180 days)
A pre-existing medical condition that causes anaemia (if it matters, the mildest anaemia that exists, but still medically anaemic)

The combination of the last 2 are causing me issues. Anyone got any ideas? It's Austria if that helps - any option just to have some kind of Carte Neige that will cover me for emergency medical fees only?

I ride in Austria a fair bit but wouldn't consider specific insurance there any more than I would riding in Scotland. It's not the third world.

If you're an instructor then I'd imaging some professional cover would be needed for your other liabilities anyway?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It would be worth your while trying HCCMIS.

They seem to be more flexible than most.

Not cheap though.

I'll need blood wagon insurance, in case I need to be brought off the hill, and liability insurance, which should be covered by the school but it's always worth having a backup.

I've found this:

Is this an Austrian carte neige?

Try Toko Marine - the Mrs has medical stuff and they're set up for it.

Th basi travel/medical via dogtag would do the trick.

I would try the Austrian Ski Federation perhaps via the ski school that you will teach in or failing that the local tourist office may be able to help. In Germany DSV insurance is fantastic and their annual policy is excellent. I'm sure they will offer something that covers teaching and hopefully find a solution to the pre-existing condition.

Try ERV - they have provided us with competition cover for freestyle that is better than most and would be worth a call

I use the Snowsport England insurance, it is actually by Dogtag but allows long trips and pre-existing medical conditions.

Sneaky but legal, return to UK for a day around day 90 and get two policies. Unlikely to save money but I gather that's not the issue.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
