Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have recently picked up some rossignol alltrack pro 130 boots.
These boots have a walk mode, and their online description alludes to touring but has anyone tried to do a bit of ski touring with them? I have dedicated ski touring boots but I wondered if anyone has succesfully used the Alltracks for a short tour. They are not all that light but are they usable for a day tour, or are they heel shredders that should only be used for downhill in your experience?
Thanks for the pointers.

People have toured on Salomon SX91s - indeed it used to be the favourite boot for steep skiing. I suspect your main limitation will be back and forwards
movement
- even in hike mode. It seems more aimed at walking round resort or boot packing than ski touring.
I see people in alpine boots touring all the time - they are comfortable in their boots and maybe have just hired touring skis for the day for a small tour with friends. We're talking about short tours (as you said). They simply open all the buckles right up, not ideal but good enough.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I had a pair of alltracks a couple of seasons ago but the lower end of the range. To be honest I never got them to fit correctly so they got sold on.
However I do have some unused spare soles if anyone if interested ?
