Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Bulgaria first week in April

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, I am a beginner skier (only had three hour lesson at Snowdome but love it already) and am looking to book a skiing holiday for the first week in April.

I have read another post here about skiing in April and will definitely have a look at some of the resorts recommended, but wondered if anyone had any experience of skiing in Bulgaria this late in the season.

I am trying to keep the costs down and Bulgaria looks like it might be a little kinder on the pocket than Austria or Switzerland.

Both my partner and I will be taking lessons so I'd also like any advice on particularly good ski schools.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Hi

I went to Bulgaria about 2 years ago mid/late March, i think that was their last week of the season as such for ski school, etc.

You could only ski the top of the mountain, but it was fine, especailly for a beginner (we went to take a first timer on a good value trip).

Friendly people. good value for money.

Hope that helps.

Take a look at these sites:

http://www.bulgariaski.com/

http://skidvd.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php

They have similar forums to this one but devoted to Bulgaria.

I have been to Borovets twice in February and been very pleased with the weather. The Bulgarian resorts are not generally good early and late season - you can view historical snow/weather data on the Bulgaria Ski site.

It is usually recommended that you book late if you wish to go late season and generally the UK holiday companies don't go then.

I hope this helps

Thanks all of you. I have decided on Les Arcs now. I'd definitely like to try Bansko another time though.
