Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing in Russia - Tourist Visa

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi, I have booked flights for a trip next year to Russia.

Has anyone had any experience obtaining a Tourist Visa?

Yes, I've had a few over the years but I gather they have tightened up the procedure. You have to fill out a huge and ludicrous form online and you now have to attend the embassy in person. Either way, allow plenty of time and a lump of cash. It will cost >£100 by the time you have finished. If cash isn't a problem you may want to use a visa company e.g. Almont Travel who will take much of the hassle away.

Yep, as above a pretty ridiculous form - thinking listing every country you've been to for the last 10 years IIRC. I was advised that didn't matter and if they checked and realised I hadn't list Turkey nothing ever came of it wink

Not sure if you need an invitation though? That was sorted for me through an agency and Russian mountain holiday company. PM if you want contact details for advice from their side.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

No, I don't think you need an invitation for a tourist visa. If you do, then a visa company can also supply one ..... at a cost.

@roche1800, I've had to do it several times. Paying a visa agent is the best way. Used to cost me just over £100 each time, probably more now.

First time I did it myself and working out how it all works at the Russian Embassy in Kensington Gdns is a nightmare.
