Any ideas where could I get ballet shoes for my 4x4?

Don't bother just run it on the rims.

Ballet shoes are really uncomfortable without snowsocks
Would you advise drywall screws for wet cold weather or would they not pass inspecting by the French authorities?

Personally I'd rather ski in France than drive on winter tyres, and as for chains...

I can't get any for my Lamborghini so thanks for the heads up. They only work if you get the wrong size anyway.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Is your Lamborghini a front wheel drive? If so it may be better to reverse up the mountain in order to get better traction

@Harry Flashman, at2s? Good job you've got a Defender to make up for the lack of grip with them.

Actually some sizes of that tyre were made in the proper compound with the winter sipes, so have the mountain/snowflake symbol. They were absolutely great in the snow and ice of the winter alps. Shame the Defender, much as I loved it, wasn't so good! If I do it again, I shall take something less cool, but more modern...

My Defender is bloody freezing, heater only works in the summer and the locks dont work if its less than zero.
Its a bit older than yours though.

Haha! It was! And the chequer plate was black - but I get your point. One of Twisted's finest creations. Had lovely engine upgrades, big brakes, and all that stuff. Don't tell me - you like your Defenders in farmer spec, still with the "county 110" decals on the sides, and with plywood seats.
Despite all this it had a heater that didn't do anything, door seals that mean you got cold elbows when driving, and door locks that iced up at every opportunity. Not to mention the (upgraded) starter motor packing up halfway through the season. Some sort of Subara Legacy would have been a better winter car.

I've got a Subaru Forester 2.5 turbo with Nokians on it. 0 - 60 in under 6 seconds and has got me up mountains when the ski buses had to put chains on

If I was driving a car after Halloween without winter tyres I would definitely wear a helmet.
