Poster: A snowHead

Anyone stayed here?
Its top of our shortlist to take our 2 nephews on their first snowboarding holiday in April. They will be doing lessons and I see the hotel is opposite the ski school meeting place.
Any info on the location would be great. The plan would be for me and my OH to drop the boys off for their lesson in the morning, head off ourselves for a few hours and meet them at lunch then spend the afternoon together- is this practical from here? Am I right in thinking we would have to use the bus to access the main ski area and would it be convenient to get back to the ski school area after the lessons have finished?
Any info on location and hotel really helpful

Haven't stayed in the Hotel Galli but have eaten in it lots of times. The restaurant is good. It's in the San Rocco area which is 20 minutes walk or so from the central pedestrianised area, but has plenty of its own restaurants and bars and tends to be a little cheaper. Assuming they have full snow cover and the between piste links are open, you don't need to take a bus to access the main ski area from the Hotel Galli, it's just a short walk of 50m or so to lift 18 ('Doss'). Lift 18 is a drag lift with a ski school at the bottom. From the top of lift 18 there's a gentle piste of a few hundred metres that will take you to the bottom of the Carosello 3000 Gondola, which opens up the whole Carosello side of the Valley. You would need a bus to access the Mottolino side of the mountain, but it only takes five minutes and they run regularly. There's a bus stop right outside the Hotel Galli at the front of Marco's Pub. Marco's does really good, simple food for lunch, as does the restaurant at the top of the Carosello gondola. San Rocco is a great spot!
*Edit - should add that I have had lessons from the ski school at the bottom of lift 18 a few times, and my girlfriend learned to ski with them, and they have been excellent.

It's where Admin books for the MYAsH Bash (see the events page). Perfectly located for the ski school which is also separate from main runs. If snow is okay then you can just about ski over to the lifts on that side of the valley, but you need a bus ride to the other side (Mottolino).
Getting back for lunch obviously has to be in you mind when you pick where to head in the morning, but it's simple enough to get back quickly enough. We did it quite a few times as would tend to head back to the hotel to meet those who had lessons and then ski together in the afternoon.

I stayed there once, the location was great and it was a nice hotel, good value. Expected the bar to disturb me but didn't hear anything during the night

@SnoodyMcFlude, Its the Original Galli that the MyAshBash is at, the Hotel Galli is further down towards the Carosello gondola - I remember passing it. Probably the same family though (I think they own quite a lot of the village).

@Tubaski, there's a difference? Seems like a way to confuse idiots like me.

@SnoodyMcFlude, From memory there is Gallis bar and restaurant where all the tour operators used to hold their meet and greet meetings and presentation evenings and Hotel Galli which is a some distance away from there.
Admittedly it is nearly 20 years since we have been there and too many bombardinos don't help the recollection.

Most of the valley is owned by four extended families.
