Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Luggage Recommendation?

Poster: A snowHead
Any ideas for a decent bag (not a suitcase) that will handle a trendy 20 something's clothing requirements for a week on the slopes.

Needs to hold boots and helmet and probably ski jacket as well as the rest of the stuff. Also needs to be a good combination of light and durable.

Nothing outrageously expensive because we already have more than enough luggage in the house just not the right size for this Smile

As the wheels are literally falling of my old bag I've been looking around and thinking of going for a The North Face duffle. I know a few people who use them and all seem happy. They seem to be well-made out of good, tough looking materials and have built-in backpack straps for Geneva airport (where the transfer buses feel like they are parked closer to the resort than the airport). Fold up nice and small when not in use too.

The list prices make you wince (£105 for medium/£115 for large) but you can find them at more reasonable prices online (wiggle.co.uk cheapest reliable place I've found so-far at £68.25 for medium/£75.51 for large).

Interesting to see if anyone comes along with adverse opinions...

I have a HEAD CYBER ski kit bag. Had it so long I can't remember how much I paid for it. It has served me extremely well over the years, having done 11 full winter seasons 10 Europe,1 Canada, plus numerous ski holidays before I started doing seasons. It has pockets at each end for boots, 1 side zipped pocket and is approx 32x15x15 inches. Plenty of room for everything you need for a 2 week holiday. Don't know if they are still available but if they are, I would heartily recommend it.
Look it up.

Pretty much anything from Dakine. I've had loads of their gear over the years, and despite the best efforts of the airport luggage transport systems, they are all still in good condition.

+1

Love their stuff, worth every penny. I have several cases, and wouldn't use anything else now - and started when I was still a 20 something Smile

Another vote for Dakine (pronounced 'Da Kyne'). Cool designs and bulletproof construction.

Incidentally, although the 4 wheel bags are lovely on a shiny airport floor, they don't work so well on a rough alpine footpath and don't work at all if there is snow on the ground. Go for a two wheel bag with quite big wheels.

I bought the 90L one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Helly-Hansen-Duffel-Trolley-Evening/dp/B00VHNRC6Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475076924&sr=8-1&keywords=helly%2Bhansen%2Bduffle%2Btrolley&th=1&tag=amz07b-21

Was about £60 when I got it which I thought was quite good value. Wheels which you can use on alpine paths and a good waterproof covering which is good if it gets left on the luggage trolley in a snowstorm!

I used to have a head bag on wheels, bomb proof and split in 2 which was great.

However I bought a north face duffle last year and its flipping amazing. Incredibly well built, very strong shoulder straps and easy to spot on the belt.

Why did I change?! Because dragging a roller one side, with a double sportube the other made me so wide I kept getting stuck in queues, lifts, the stupid zig zag queues. Stick the duffle on your Back and lifes a whole lot easier wink

I had one that lasted for a good ten years before the 'throwers' smashed the handle on it. I replaced it with one last year. Much lighter fabric, poorer quality zips. It went on a transatlantic flight with one connecting flight, the fabric was 'rubbed' over an internal plastic reinforced corner and is fraying after one trip.......

This thread caught my eye, and I've been looking looking at the bags on Amazon.
I think I'll leave the purchase for another year though, I'll be trying to get as much as I can in my ski bag and take the rest cabin luggage this year.

I notice that its €84 for the ski bag and I can only put 20Kg in it.
Oh EasyJet how we love you Sad

Briggs & Riley make some terrific luggage and comes with a lifetime guarantee. Although pricey, I am very happy with mine.
