Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Apologies to anyone who sees the cross-posting on Epic...

OK, we're off skiing for the week next week. We bought Monster 72s back in December and are loving them, great all round skis for what we see and do. But while we have the time (and a ski hire service delivering to the chalet Wink ) we quite fancy trying out some more specialised skis i.e. narrower and wider - just for the hell of it for a day or so. So what would you suggest for

a) playing on piste, carving, ice?
b) a wider powder ski?

I'm thinking along the lines of the Head Fast Thang, Fischer Vision 50 (and equivalent unisex for Mr Eng), RX8 for a) and maybe Monster 88, 1080 Gun (PR) for b). Any and all further suggestions would be welcome! Thanks in advance!

a) I hired a pair of Head Worldcup Supershapes recently which are (apparently) a widened slalom model. I enjoyed them altho I think you have to be pretty committed to get the best out of them.

According to Keelty, the Fast Thang is the women's equivalent of the Supershape?

For the purposes, it doesn't matter a jot really whether we get chucked on our bums (although I would hope we won't!).

eng_ch, who is Keelty? Not Patrick Keelty, the slightly annoying irish TV presenter?? Very Happy Very Happy

Anyway you're quite right, the Fast Thang is a slalom ski, altho according to Head.com the geometry is the same as the Worldcup SL rather than the more curvy Supershape. I am sure it would deliver what you are looking for!

the ice perv, the guy who does the reviews on Realskiers

Wear The Fox Hat, just a quick question - aren't the Burnin Luvs rather similar to the iM72s?

Anyone got any thoughts on the Elan Ripstick?

I tried a pair of Salomon equipe 2vs a couple of weeks ago in Zermatt, and once I got used to the fact that they were quite unforgiving, they were great fun on the piste.

I loved the Fast Thang when I tried it at Castleford. It is the first (and so far only) women specific ski that I've liked.

Elizabeth B, that's nice to know. I'm really keen to try some women-specific skis as I've never tried any since they seem to be quite rare round here on the hire front (easy to buy), which is why I ended up with the Monsters.
