Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New skis maybe.....

And boots possibly 😥
Skis and boots in Edge and Wax for servicing and just had a letter from receivers that I can pop in on Thursday to hopefully collect my gear. But they have said there is no guarantee of condition or even their existence. So I may need new boots and skis.

I'm now 57, 6' 4", bit overweight and only ski on piste nowadays. I'd say I'm advanced intermediate, grew up skiing in the Swiss Alps but left it alone between about 30 and 50 years old so big gap!

I'm after the best on piste skis I can get my hands on, something that I don't need to fight too hard to get nice turns. Really after something that handles ice and hard pack well. Was looking at the Any recommendations?

I'll consider boots next.......

Head Titans are great piste skis for big guys.

What are your current skis and boots....and how old are they?

If you get both back, are you still replacing both?

Normally, it's better to get boots first, but if yours are in good condition, then skis make sense....but if only skiing on one or two weeks a year, there is an argument for renting skis.

Do you ever want to venture off the side of the piste?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Well that's basically an outrageous situation.

I'm 6'7" and 100kg so I can relate to your situation! It is a bit of a minefield really since few things are produced long enough.

I think the suggestion of Head Titans is probably good. I tried them and was very happy - but ended up buying the Rev80 because it just felt more fun to me. (They've discontinued it now). Possibly not quite as good in terms of sheer performance, but a bit more playful.

I would suggest you also try out the Scott Black Majic. It's marketed as an all-mountain ski but it's really a piste ski and very enjoyable for carving.

When I say 'try out', I hope you haven't forgotten it's the Snowheads Ski Test in October which would probably be a sensible thing for you to partake in...?

Cheers for the replies! (un??)fortunately I didn't have to get new skis as everything was available to be picked up. sad to see their lovely shop ripped apart by the liquidators though!

Was getting tempted by a pair of Black Majics but looks like I'm going to wait another year to treat myself to new skis!
