I'm choked by this awful news. Sue was a force of nature and although we knew her illness was terminal, it still didn't seem real. Determined, opinionated, bloody-minded, but also warm, fun-loving and extremely generous. She has inspired me in so many ways and been a bloody good friend/partner in crime. I'll miss her always. I hope there's good gin and schnapps in her new bar. C xx

One of my first friends in Austria, she will be very dearly missed. Christmas dinner in the Rosner will not be the same without her; but by god we are going to blast some of her favourite runs, raise a few toasts, sniffle a bit and remember all the good times.
Rest easy Sue xx

@queen bodecia, I can't top your words, she was indeed everything you say. I have wonderful memories of my first ever trip to Austria and Sue's support, advice, encouragement on my first solo trip and, of course, her legendary 'Greasy Spoon' cafe... where even dogs are welcome. She was a legend. An absolute legend. RIP Sue xx

Not long on the forum but long enough to recognise a passionate, confident woman and dedicated Snowhead. Noted and respected for her commitment to the forum and specialist/local knowledge, shared without hesitation or concern. RIP Sue.

Such very sad news Sue had often shared her knowledge of her beloved Austria, and was very generous with her help and contacts. To those of you who knew her personally, I'm very sorry for your loss of her friendship. RIP Sue x

Awful news.
I didn't know Sue but the news came as a shock because it feels like I knew her through this forum. Whenever we bought our Vignette at Samerberg services I would always comment to Mrs B that that was where Sue lived...
Commiserations to her family and all that knew her.

@queen bodecia, you said it all.
Sue was a real character in every way, larger than life and as bolshy as they come, she was also probably one of the most generous people I have ever known.
A few years ago my life was a bit of a mess, and she was the one who basically told me to shape up, and in no uncertain terms, typical Sue! We spent many (slightly) drunk evenings ripping the world apart and grumbling about the state of ski racing.
I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon with her a few weeks ago, where she was swearing and complaining and generally making me laugh despite her ailing health. I was due to visit her this Wednesday, I am going to miss her so much, we all are here.
She was truly irreplaceable.
I hope anyone who is able to will raise a glass to her, the only alcohol I have in my flat is 80% rum, so Sue, thanks for the hangover I know I will get....TO ABSENT FRIENDS!

Sad to hear the news. Although I've never met her in person, we did exchange a few private e-mail. I read her posts on snowheads with interest. I'm going to miss those posts.

My God. It seems like only a few days ago that she posted from a restaurant on a mountain in Kitzbühel that she was not feeling well... I am saddened that I never got to meet her. One of life's great characters.
Rest in peace.

Desperately sad news as she has so much more life to lead. Had the opportunity to ski with her a couple of occasions, and she was the first one to book on the very first Inside Out Skiing alpine course so I have especially fond memories of her for that. She was, of course, a pleasure to teach, in part challenging and in part entirely up for trying new things. As many people will testify, she was generous with both her time and her opinions, and will be missed for both.

I'm sure Sue would have scorned a bunch of random internet weirdos* sending flowers to her funeral. Do her real life friends know if she had a passion for a particular charity or maybe could set up one of those charity fund me pages. If not I will send flowers and recieve scorn from the afterlife.
*She told me that I was her favourite random internet weirdo. I took it as a compliment.

She will be having a right whinge upstairs about this thread being in The Piste
When I met Sue she was exactly how I thought she would be. She really put in the effort to help and support people and was so generous in so may different ways.
I would have hated to get on her wrong side, but thankfully did not. She was a great character, and has left us, as many good un's do, far too early.
Gone, but never forgotten.

I don't want to bother her sister(s?). They have enough to be dealing with. I will wait for hlxx to advise.

Terrible news. It was only last March that we were going to meet up with Sue in Kitz. We'd exchanged a few PMs and were both looking forward to it but the last one from Sue said she couldn't make it as her eyes were playing up and she didn't feel up to driving. We didn't have a car so we couldn't get to hers. We all said, "Never mind, we'll do it next year."
Hindsight's a wonderful thing. If I'd have only known then, we'd have got a bloody taxi. RIP Sue, you'll be missed x
