A few years ago, £120 return, using SCGB special offer for limited places, booking within hours of the offer window opening (I think in October IIRC). Tickets were sold out within hours.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Should have mentioned - from Ashford, with £60/week for car parking at the station.

Crowded, uncomfortable non-reclining seats, woken at regular intervals by woman rustling plastic bag as she vomited into it. Very bleary-eyed family arrived in BSM 06.30. Mrs C said she'd never repeat it, and has remained true to her word

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

oh dear! we live very close to Ashford, so it seems an option worth exploring. But I have two small children and they won't function well at 5.30 when the train is due to arrive in Moutiers. So we are leaning towards driving... but was interested to know how much the train would cost at half term. I know its 120 for other weekends. But Snowcarbon says you can't get it cheaper than £300-400 each for Half ter, even if you book instantly... so i wondered if anyone else had a different opinon

Like a coach at three times the price. And when we went by coach we were dropped right outside the chalet.

Actually, the coach seats did recline.

Laugh out loud! So driving is preferable all the way round. I wish they hadn't discontinued the french sleeper trains, those would have been absolutely perfect for us this year

I'm gutted about this too - I was looking at potentially doing a day trip to Les Arcs in Jan, but don't really fancy it on the eurostar. The sleeper would have been perfect.

@Blinder, ouch. I guess they're confident they can sell them all, and there's no opportunity for them to increase capacity in any way. So they charge as much as they can get away with.
