@stanton, serious question. Do they have mush social housing in Ski resorts? can you give some examples? are you allowed to sub let & are you allowed one if you are only planning on using it 10-20% of the year.
I think the answer to all of these will be no but if not interesting way of having your own place.

I think that is standard in all EU countrys & likely to get you moved out.
RE. Austria. there is certainly plenty of social housing in regional towns (close commuting to Ski areas) Landeck, Innsbruck, Salzburg etc. Most of the daily workers live in such accommodation & commute.
Even if you OWN a property and only using 10/20% of the year, it treated under special conditions & big taxes levied.

Back on OT - flight booked, accommodation booked, money changed last year. 3 trips sorted. I'm happy with my skiing plans for 2018. Maybe next year it will be too expensive.... but I doubt it.
