Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There's a few well known names from long ago on this thread. I'm another who has had the same jacket since before this thread started.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

My ski (Salomon clima-pro) jacket was looking a bit worse for wear, and not very water repellent (in fact positively absorbent), so I had a go with the Nikwax stuff. Washed it and some other gore-tex gear with the tech wash, then re-proofed it with the TX direct stuff- but not in the washing machine, as it has a lining and padding and what have you, which obv is better NOT waterproofed! Instead I made it into a solution (3:1 with water) in a plant spray bottle and sprayed it on (until it saturated the surface). Essentially the same as buying their TX Direct spray, but means I can also use the neat liquid in the washing machine for my non-lined Gore-tex Smile

Anyway, said jacket certainly smelled a lot fresher after this treatment, and so far seems to be a fair bit more water repellent - there is beading now where before there was none... I still want to replace it with a Hyvent one though!

If you get blood on clothing - rinse it out with COLD water first, preferably before it dries. You don't have to soak the whole garment, just the bit with the blood on it. If the blood has dried, let it soak for a bit in cold water and rinse until the water runs clear. No matter what it says on the bio detergent packet, washing blood in a hot washing machine "cooks" the blood and makes it far more difficult, if not impossible, to remove completely.
