Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow and Rock Chill Factore boot fitting?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Has anybody had any recent experience of Snow and Rock's boot fitting in their Chill Factore store? I'm interested in trying some Scarpa Freedom SL for size on a tempting end of season offer, but only if the shop has a good boot fitter available. Otherwise I'll wait until next season's boots come in (anybody know when that is?) and pay full price for a known boot fitter then.

I realise that pre-selecting a boot can be folly, but I'm interested to see how the capability for variable ramp angle and forward lean would help with my limited ankle movement - if they don't give me a good fit then they won't be for me.

Is your limitedankle movement pathological?

Ankle movement limited by shape of ankle bones following an old nasty fracture. I compensate by stacking thick heel lifts beneath my footbeds, this makes a big difference to my skiing. I understand the Scarpa Freedom SLs come with wedges which may reduce my need for heel lifts

Generally the fridge chain stores tend to have some better fitters than the high street branches but it is always worth giving the shop a ring to find out who the good ones are and when they will be working and make sure one of them looks after you rather than than the regular sales staff.

Yep, mine came with some rubbery inserts which go under the heal.

Mine were supplied and fitted by backcountry uk in Ilkley.

@AndAnotherThing.., Thanks, can you remember the maximum mm lift the heel lifts gave you?

They are not hugely thick, from memory about 1mm.

The other ramp angle consideration is the bindings, which will presumably make a bigger difference?
