Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for a good pair of ladies intermediate skis

Ideally would like to take advantage of the end of season sales but looking for good piste skis, with occasional use off the sides.

Length around 163-165.

Any recommendations or review sites would be great.

I'm a bloke on a board so know nothing of these things.

Bought my wife a pair of Blizzard Cheyennes 163cm in the sale at end of last season, she's 170cm and c.58kg and a strong but slightly cautious intermediate skier who skis mainly pistes and dabbles off the sides.

After initially complaining she didn't want her own skis, wasn't interested in them and that she could never tell the difference between all the rentals she'd had in the past, (wasn't the best birthday present she'd ever received last Oct!!) after 2 weeks on them this year she's an absolute convert to owning skis and says they're the best skis she's ever used!

They're quite piste-oriented, not that wide (I think 78mm underfoot?) with a small tip-rocker and are fairly lightweight. They were great for her on-piste but she ski'd very well on them in knee deep powder off the top of Les Grands Montets a couple of weeks ago too!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I second the vote for the Cheyennes (I have the "men's" version-the Latigo-not sure if there is much difference-maybe just in weight. Yes..they are 78mm underfoot). Though they are a little skinny for off piste they do have a decent tip rocker which helps. I've also tested and REALLY enjoyed the Nordica Belle to Belle which, for me, beat the Latigos, but as I had already bought the latter in the sales meant I had to hand the Nordicas back.

Anything in the Volkl Essenza, Atomic Affinity or Dynastar Neva ranges, depending on ability and how wide she wants them. Try them out if possible.

But really you should encourage her to come and discuss her requirements and give an accurate opinion of previous skis she's tried. As you say, you're just a bloke on a board.
