Poster: A snowHead

So with the imminent total demise of our (177) 2010 Mantras we popped out with the above skis to try replacements. Bonafide in 173 and Mantras in 177.
Well.
Quite the difference. Bonafids super stable, straight up to warp factor 11, very nice if possible a little over damped and a tad short.
Mantras? Ugh. Unstable, squirrely, just as predicted (double rocker, softer than last model).
So pretty much decision taken, just need to try the Blizzards in the 180 next week.
Sunny, springlike, 23C outside and BBQ about to be lit.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@under a new name, seems like Völkl have done something completey stupid with the Mantras. I also have a 2010 model and they are nothing like what you describe. Having said that I now spend all my time on a pair of RTMs which are super stable on hard icy pistes and every bit as good as the Mantras off piste.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Steilhang, they definitely did.
Sis-in-law bought one of the last old model as the changes were known to be happening.
Sadly, rumours of a return to form for next year have evaporated.

I find the most amusing thing is that you have identical his n hers taste in skis. Good choice I suspect, recently spent an extended trial on the Cochise with the carbon tip in spring conditions. Really very dependable.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Dave of the Marmottes, we have pretty similar styles and histories: bit old school, race background, similar weights, etc.
