Poster: A snowHead
|
My 20yo Daughter is coming towards the end of her 2nd season, I sense that another will follow.
She has been on her Missdemeanors for a while now, for general knocking about inc. a bit of park. She has a pair of Volkl Auras for powder days.
I'm wishing to replace the Missdemeanors. I'm looking for an all rounder twin-tip which would go from park up to, but not including powder.
Armada VJJs came to mind, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

@Mollerski, the VJJ would be much more powder orientated than the Auras!
My gf uses a pair of Moment Bellas as a do everything ski, but again, they're wider than the Auras.
At the UK industry ski test a couple of weeks ago the girls seemed to really like some of Faction's skis - maybe something like the Heroine would suit? https://www.factionskis.com/skis/ski-1516-her

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Really? She says that the Auras are heavy and hardwork on hardpack.

Well the Auras are 100mm underfoot and fairly traditionally shaped (though full rocker I think).
The VJJs are something like 115 underfoot, and the Bellas 108mm.
However the Auras, being Völkl, are likely heavy and stiff. TBH to me they look more like all mountain skis than powder skis, but it could just be they're not really well suited to her and her skiing style (and/or size/strength)?
FWIW my gf finds the Bellas much easier to ski than the narrower but heavy/stiff/metal Völkl Kenjas (I think ~90mm) she had before.
Edit: Yeah the Aura has two sheets of metal in it. So you either have to drive it hard like a racer all day, or it'll take you for a ride. However if she can drive it (and bend it!) that metal should make it better on hardpack - damper and better edge grip!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Mollerski, if she's doing a season then I'd suggest she goes into a "seasonaire friendly" shop and takes various skis out and then sees what deal they'll do on her favourite ones!

@marcellus,
Her company have their own 'hire fleet'. I'll enquire as to whether any of it is suitable.

@Mollerski, Isn't she old, etc. enough to be acquiring her own skis at saisonnaire rates (heavy discount plus a knee trembler behind the waxing machine?)
