Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Going to Canada? Need an eTA?

Anyone else not know about this?

I'm flying to Banff on Friday. Looked up a checklist to pack, and it said "passports with 6 months left". Oh #%&!. Daughter's only has 3 months. A quick search to see if that's OK - apparently it is, but if entering from 15 March 2016, now it seems you need a Canadian ESTA, the eTA. The sort of good news is it costs the princely sum of CDN7 each.

According to the above web page, there's a six-month grace period AIUI, so no need for a heart attack yet...

Anyway, just applied for all mine. Mine, and the daughter with the dying passport, are approved. My wife's (not Europe-born), and the other daughter (no idea why), are Pending.

(Please don't tell me I've just fallen for some dodgy hoax site...)

Looks real to me Smile https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/canada/entry-requirements but still in phasing in which I guess is why so quiet. Thanks for the heads up though, I go fairly often and had no idea!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It is absolutely real but it looks like the phasing in period will cover you. We just arrived back last Wednesday and I was aware that we just made it before the date when it became compulsory.

Try ringing the embassy or a specialist travel agent like Ski Independence (They book Canadian travel in the main)if you are worried. Good luck and enjoy Banff!

Just got mine, and my passport expires this May. Never had any problems with having a problem with a passport nearing expiry, before.

Annoyingly, I'll have to apply for another the moment I renew my passport, and pay another 7 bucks for the privilege.

It doesn't take long to complete the application, once you can get the website to respond.

That bit drove me nuts - particularly as I had to complete it for 4 different people. You'd have thought I'd have learned eventually. Note - don't do it at 11pm under stress after an already long day.
