Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Salomon MTN Lab boots on Marker Lord SPs

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone had tried the above combination and if so how they found it? Theoretically they should be compatible, but I've read that alot of people are having to grind the soles of their Maestrales to get them to fit, which is something I'd rather not have to do to my MTN Labs!

The alternative would be to get some Salomon Wardens, but I don't really trust the Salomon heel peice having used it on a pair of Guardians...

Cheers!

@Beveled Edge, Welcome to SnowHeads.

I have the Marker Lord SP, and used them with my Tecnica Cochise Pro Light. I don't have that boot anymore, but I remember it was at the limit of the height adjustment, and it had a fairly gentle rocker. I think when I measured it, the Tech toe was 8mm taller that the Alpine DIN toe.

You really need to try and sit a pair of MTN Labs and Maestrales next to each other for comparison. I know that many people squeeze all sorts of touring/tech toed boots into frame bindings.

Cheers PowderAdict, I've been reading for a while but never had cause to post, seems like a good community.

Yeah that'd be really useful, sadly there aren't many shops that I can easily get too Sad Good to have another point of reference though, thanks!

@Beveled Edge, FWIW I'm using the Wardens with Cochise Pro Lights and couldn't be happier. Ski way better than my (admittedly battered) Marker Barons, and have been totally bomber so far!

Some fully rockered AT boots do need a very slight 'fettle' to fit in the Lord toe and achieve the correct toe height adjustment. I've fitted Mercury's & Maestrale's to them & they require about half a mm taking off in a strip about 6/8mm wide across the width of the sole where that area sits on the AFD. I've not tried the MTN boot in the Lord so couldn't say whether it needs adjusting.

It's no big deal to do and with a username like Beveled Edge it should be easy for you to do Toofy Grin
