@warbis66, The key point here is that 'Paris half term' is spread over FOUR weeks, what you need to establish is which part of Paris was on their 'half term' in the week you were there.
Ifirc the weeks are rotated so spreading the load..... Some areas having more skiers than others.
I suspect that you actually need to know if the Swiss, Germans, Dutch or Belge were not off the week concerned!
In the past I confidently booked the same week same resort only to arrive to discover the place was overrun by Belgiums, who had a public holiday.

The thing to do is avoid the overlapping weeks (then factor in the Dutch, Belgians, etc) and if you can't, go at easter!

We all understand what you're on about, but every year is different. The French zones rotate as do some of the other countries, so one year is not the same as another and it's all about finding the magic combination of lack of Paris and any major Dutch /Belgian /German region.
I wouldn't be surprised if somebody hasn't published a thesis on it

@moody_git, Exactly!
and some years the UK half term gets divided up over 3 weeks, and of course the private sector can have a two week half term, but I guess that only affects certain resorts ...with Nanny driving down with the luggage and the parents and sprogs flying in 😎

Attempting a positive spin, is it a good time to visit Paris, during their half term winter holiday month? Or is just too cold / damp / empty and miserable?
...then jump on the first train to the Alps, as soon as the hordes have returned in early(ish) March?

I work in Paris and other than a few people being off work, it doesn't seem very empty. The traffic on the Friday was bad for the Depart.
