Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mid March Snow Trip

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am looking to get away with another lad and maybe one more in mid March for a snow trip. We are looking at Soll and it is working out as roughly €1100 (flights, transfer, accommodation, pass, rental and lessons) per person with an agent.

But with this cost we are a bit worried about the snow conditions. As anyone been here at this time or should we be looking at another resort and if so where.

We'd ideally like to go to higher in France but the cost is just too much unless anyone knows of another resort we can go to for the above price.

Any advise?

Crystalski have just reduced some prices on Soll, but with the good prices on the lift passes, (when compared to other resorts), it is pretty good value for money. They have just listed Au Pension for £310 for the week and if you are young lads going to the resort, then you would be better looking at this rather than the Tyrol, Postowirt etc. which are quality hotels, but they may inhibit your apres-ski potential. We usually book a package with Crystal, but are very experienced skiers and this year have used booking.com for booking Landaus Elfi (Incredible price of £325 for two for the week, bed and breakfast) and have booked the dreaded Ryanair flights independently (Salzburg). The one drawback is that we have our own gear (Flight prices escalate), however even with transfers (Andi's taxis 33 euros each way), it comes out really cheap and we get to the resort at about noon, so can ski on Saturday afternoon. The one advantage of Soll is that drinks at the Salvenstadl and local bars are really cheap, when compared with some of the other resorts - Kitzbuhel etc. and this will keep prices down. Finally, compare the Crystal ski hire prices, ski school etc. with what can be booked in resort, you may save money (although euro rate not great at the moment0. Good luck.
