You can add me to the powder jinx list, I had 2 powder days during my 8 weeks in Whistler, and so far Japan has not delivered for me in my first week.

Unless it's raining. Or if you've spent time in a US prison.
I'm always amused by the wildly differing reviews you get of the same place.... obviously anywhere's garbage in the rain/ great in fresh powder.

Japan (Hokkaido) is the closest place i've been to guaranteed powder (having kept track of the weather/snow reports for the last two seasons). Both times i've visited in Jan/Feb for two weeks. The first time had 2 or 3 really good powder days, the second 6 or 7.
Interior and Northern BC fell a long way short of the marketing hype the two weeks I visited last season. Had a couple of mediocre powder days in 2 weeks.
