Thanks for link.
Has anyone skied Andorra, if so, what do we reckon. Apparently its 50p pints at the top, which sounds great to me!

Andorra has two ski areas, Vallnord and Grandvalira. Vallnord is vaguely 4 linked villages but not linked well as I understand, needing a bus, while Grandvalira is about 7 linked pretty well provided the highest lifts are running. I haven't been to Vallnord. Went 3 times to Grandvalira, happy to go back. The established party resort in GV is Pas de la Casa on the French border - I'm well over 40 and with two tweens so I've never been and don't feel the need! Not interested in alcohol either. I'm really a blues and reds person so can't comment on scary blacks or trick stuff. People here say the transfer from Barcelona is a bit of a fag at 3.5 hrs in a bus, or there is Toulouse that might be the same...
For USA, there is Canada also. Canadian dollar very low at present, so a bargain, not sure what it will be in a year's time. Party resort is probably Whistler - while there is a risk of rain in warm weather, December is the coldest month so you should avoid that. And as you found, it is cold!! Another concern is, the further north you go, the less daylight you get in the short days.

Thanks for such a detailed reply, ann. That's sick.
How did you get tot GV? Or is Barca the easiest way?
As for Whistler, have you been, or has anyone else been. One thing I have found hard when organising it is to find out the daily cost it will be as food etc. is often not mentioned on the websites so any info on that would be great.
Thanks again though!

I get to GV by driving as I live in Lisbon! Food is cheap as I can live on a pizza at lunch and brekkie cereal and pasta from the local supermarket am and pm respectively. We eat at home, cheap and filling lunch on the mountain.

Where do you stay when you go to Andorra, in a house or in a hotel?

We rent a one-bed apartment through booking.com. Use the map to make sure it's an easy walk to the lift, not 1000m+ away (but you're fit - we had a whiny 5 year old to deal with!). Use http://www.pasdelacasa.com to book the ancillaries (we use the Soldeu site, it's run by the same people). The ski locker under the rental shop right by the lift at El Tarter is a godsend, no struggling back in stiff boots with skis on the shoulder at the end of a long day.
If you're thinking of going at Christmas, I have no idea how snowsure Andorra is at a relatively early point in the season - though Pas is a higher resort.
I've never been to Whistler but have been to Banff /Lake Louise / Sunshine 3x and am a pig in poo-poo going back there in a couple of weeks.
