Latchigo, agreed. How did Ms Balding get to cover so much sport? How does her experience in pony trekking count as qualification. Now, David Vine, he could commentate on skiing.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Agreed. David Vine should be brought out of retirement.
A proper commentator of the old school, when you did not need to participate in the sport you covered. Harry Carpenter is another example.

If you want a Scottish female, can I suggest Lorraine Kelly ?
She has far more enthusiasm about her than the rather reserved Irvine. She is also more inclined to show off her norks to their full advantage in the studio section of the programme.
I also think some of the programme should be devoted to skidoos. Although I cannot stand the man, I would put Clarkson up for that. He could roar around the place making derogatory remarks about pedestrians on planks and nearly wiping out whole ski classes on green runs. It would give the programme a broader appeal amongst the non-skiing population.

Anyone out there anal enough to have timed Graham Bell's run with the camera? Looked fast, wonder how far off the actual racers he was.

You know it makes sense.

Because you asked so nicely I just times it and from start to finish was approx 2 minutes 30, so I guess that there was a bit of editing done to tighten up his run.

rob@rar.org.uk, thanks for that - not anal, I meant Arsenal. I couldn't see where anything was edited out. Maybe he did the best time! A top piece of TV entertainment whatever.

I like Graham Bell's camera run, perhaps they could run a new event "Downhill incorporating video and commentary" - I believe we have the chance of a podium place

Well darts was the only show in town this Sunday.
Hats off to the two Dutchman for a great final which ebbed and flowed with every throw !
The crafty cockney's record is still intact and the underdog came through against the odds.
So a Scotsman with two surnames came 10th in the Lauberhorn. Who cares ? I might be a bit more interested in someone called Mick Finlay- but not that much.
The biathlon stuff and the women's bobsleigh was an interesting insight to some winter sports that get no publicity.

The little bit on skiing in the Observer Sport today was mostly about Kostner and the womens race (with photo) plus just 50 words on the Lauberhorn - WHICH DIDN'T MENTION ANYONE BEYOND THE BEST 3 !!!!!

Did anyone see the Biathlon pursuit races on Eurosport yesterday. Both men's and women's races were won by 0.1 sec, which is very unusual for Biathlon. Liv Grete Poiree edged out Kati Wilhelm in the women's, but her husband, Raphael Poiree just lost out to Michael Roesch. Great viewing!

hilary t, Yes I did. I'll watch anything with snow on it! Tremendous sport yesterday.
Massive congratulations to Findlay. I think his achievement is along the lines of the Chinese beating us at cricket.
