Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I make do with one pair for a season, and they'd probably get washed about once in that time. I wear base layers underneath which get changed daily. Enjoy.

Merino base layers are what you need.

1 pair - it's not like you can't buy a pair if they have to cut the first pair off to put rods in your femur.

I think they pay a lot more in NZ for quality gear so I'd investigate that and then load up with end of season sale stuff and flog it off out there. Maybe go for Goretex shell pants that pack down easily and sell for many sheep (or whatever their currency is)

Yeah was thinking that myself you know buying all the stuff here, at the minute there's a few good sales on especially at helly Hansen just trying to get a rough estimate in how many layers. anyone any idea how cold it can be during a New Zealand winter on cardrona mountain ?

Entirely up to you how many base layers you want to take. I've managed with 3 sets before as they hand wash and dry overnight quite nicely, good if washing machine access is iffy.

 You know it makes sense.

Yeah was thinking around maybe 3-4 myself, think access to washing machine and drying facilities is all there for me which is quite handy if I'm honest

I would take 3 pants and 4 tops and I would go for the thin merino i.e. the HH 'wool' stuff that HH sells rather than the HH 'warm' kit which is very warm and too thick for every-day skiing I find unless its -20.

I actually really like the HH dry kit which isn't merino at all and can be picked up pretty cheaply in the sales, does a super job wicking away when being quite active.

Yeah thinking the hh wool stuff myself because can't see it being really cold in New Zealand and I know how warm things can get. Thinking maybe two pants dont know why though haha but don't want to be very weighty as I'll be bringing skiis and boots with me. And like going out shirts and stuff. Purchased the hh racer jacket so hoping it's a good buy to be honest.
