Hey
Its snowing hard right now. 30-40cm expected tomorrow morning and good visibility. Anyone wants to join?
You shoud have avalanche equmpment on you (beacon, shovel, probe) and know how to use it. Easy offpiste along the slopes.

@ed48, you know the snow line is going to rise (v high), the snowpack will be totally soaked, and avalanches will be very likely and the risk level is 4... right?
Enjoy the freshened pistes and sun the next two days, then hope that when the next snow comes Thurs/Fri that the warmed/soaked snowpack has re-frozen and is locked up and stable by then.
Be very careful when/if you go offpiste, and pay attention to what's above and below where you ski: if it gets really warm watch out for steep grassy slopes low down too.

Critical avalanche scenario: during the course of the day, Level 4 / High danger will be reached over widespread areas. Attention: above approximately 1600m over the day, the critical mass of fresh fallen snow will be reached or exceeded, after which naturally triggered loosely-packed and slab avalanches can be expected. These can be large-sized and even place exposed transportation routes at risk. Below about 2200m, the snowpack will significantly lose its firmness due to the ascending snowfall level, rainfall will set in. At that point, wet-snow avalanches can be expected to trigger spontaneously. From these, too, exposed transportation routes are endangered. Unfavourable conditions prevail in outlying terrain, backcountry skiing and freeriding possibilities are severely limited. The inexperiencd are urgently warned: not today! |

Hey Matt
Just returned from the glacier, windblown powder, not much joy, but some powder still there. In general, the situation in the mountains is really bad indeed, +3 on 2660 today and freezing point above 3500 is expected tonight. The condition is very scary on everything below 2600. so much water in the snow. Im actually quite scared to be onpiste bth. Anyway colder days expected from tomorrow, lets see what they bring us.
Cheers
Ed
