Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Maurienne Valley accommodation

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Have a long weekend booked at the beginning of Feb and thinking of giving the Maurienne valley a whirl. Any recommendations? Looking for somewhere which will do half board ideally. Will have a car so can be based in the valley. Wouldn't be against being walking distance from a lift which gives access to the goods though.

Cheers!

Not half board, but we stayed in Orelle in an apartment in the summer. You'd have access to the 3V, it's about a minute drive downhill to the lift station, but there is a shuttle that runs. Modane (and the ski stations nearby) is only about 15 mins away and you could get to Valloire/Valmeinier in about 40 mins.

Here you go, http://www.residenceorelle3vallees.com would need to check if they do weekends, as they don't have any listed.

I've always stayed for a week or more self catering so cannot really help with anything specific. One thing I would point out if you haven't been though is that it is quite a long valley and The Haute Maurienne resorts are not where I would choose to stay to ski the lower end ones or visa versa.

PS Have found this site quite useful for browsing.

Thanks, gents. Not too bothered about where we end up skiing, so would probably ski wherever is close to where we're staying. That said I don't plan on using the Orelle link to the 3Vs. Skied the 3Vs plenty and fancy something different.

Head to Valloire/Valmeinier, the area is a lovely area to ski. Perfect size for a long weekend. Snowcoach have a very basic, but reasonable hotel in Valmeinier. It's literally metres from the nearest lift or piste downhill.

Not in the valley itself though, it's 1800m.
