Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zell am See 23 Jan snow conditions for a beginner?

 Poster: A snowHead

Tried to check weather reports but it's unclear if there will be soft snow and reasonable weather for a beginner who wants to avoid ice and freezing wind chill while learning, hope to book last minute for this weekend, does anyone know?

@PeterC, Welcome to snowHeads! I'm sure that the ski school will make efforts to ensure that beginners are somewhere that isn't too badly affected by the weather

Thanks for response. Also very interested in whether sufficient snow at the resort. Weather forecasts inconclusive about amount of snow falling over recent days and weeks - yet it seems lifts and runs are open?

Presently it is still cold but with little wind (in Tyrol less than an hour away from Zell). It is forecast to become a little warmer from the weekend. The snow should be great, another 8 cm fell here overnight. Conditions should be good for you, I would say. Welcome to snowHead

@PeterC, snow conditions can be absolutely fine, some time after snow has stopped falling. The key factor for the enjoyment of a beginner skier is the quality of instruction.

@PeterC, Welcome to Snowheads.

I'm in Saalbach, about 16km from Zell am See (we can see the Zell pistes from here). Current snow conditions are good for beginners, as it has snowed a little every day this week and temperatures have remained below zero so the snow has remained firm but not icy. Forecast is for snow tonight and much of Thursday, followed by cold and sunny over the weekend, so continued good conditions. You'll be well wrapped up and working hard as a beginner, so you're unlikely to feel cold. Even though it was minus 5°, I ate my lunch in the sun today.
