Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

HELP
doing an A-level project in which I have decided to build my own skis. I ordered the materials I would need from the USA (currently in the UK) but they couldn't deliver my core due to shipping restrictions. I am running out of time now before my project has to be completed, so I was wondering if anyone knows a place in UK or Europe where I will be able to source some cores for my skis (ideally pre profiled ones)
Thanks
Sam
PS also wondering if anyone knows where to get cheap epoxy from as the only stuff I can find is ridiculously expensive

Hi,

Welcome to snowHead

I have never tried this but I did a little digging a while ago to see if there were custom options.

I found http://www.boardbuildingsupply.eu/index.php?cPath=21&osCsid=2f9a2af14ef9609ad8e7d27f751c6ea6 They are EU and have materials. No idea of quality or service I am afraid as I never went ahead.

For epoxy etc try surfboard shapers, most are really helpful guys who could point you at a supplier. Epoxy is not cheap through

Good luck

In the UK there is Fork Tree skis, North West Customs and Lonely Mountain Skis - they are all much closer to you than me, but give me a shout if you are stuck

Also there are many resin suppliers in the uk - in the past I've used epoxy-resins.co.uk.
These days I use http://www.entropyresins.eu/

Hope this is of some help

@sampattinson, contact Rupert Gammond at Pure Freeride Design: https://www.pfdskis.com

Rupe's away ski testing at the moment but if you give him a call mid next week I'm sure he'll supply you with some epoxy.

A single piece of wood but routed for lightness.
