Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi
I have worn a hole on the thumb of one of my hestra gloves. Has any ever managed to repair their gloves with a leather patch or something else?

Duct Tape. Works well, looks core.

Cobblers. They have leather and big stitching machines. Or just buy some new ones.

No, not Superglue, it's water soluble. Better to use neoprene wetsuit repair glue.

I already tried this for last season, i thought i would try and fix them properly for a change. While my gloves looked hardcore my skiing told a different story.

thanks for the other suggestions. i have worn a hole, about the size of a 5p coin, so would not want to glue them ideally.

Iv'e stitched a leather patch over a couple of worn spots, seems to work ok, better than binning them.
Have contacted them before a couple of times, if you have looked after the gloves and kept them nourished and there's even a slight defect in say the stitching or the cuff they will probably swap them out even if they also have holes in em, if you have not looked after them they wont really be able to help and they don't or wont repair them, least they wouldn't for mine, tbh i don't think it's really possible or feasible to repair a hole as i think they are made from single pieces of leather front and back making it too much effort on their part.

Take them to a tailor? For DIY I would stick a leather patch on with clear silicone sealant (that stuff sticks anything very permanently) then stitch the outside edge if needed.
