To me it is more support the rights of all instructors who put time money and effort into gaining qualifications, at present I see no conflict with SB but do see conflict in that BASI do not seem in my opinion to support all instructors who hold BASI qualifications to the best of their ability.

Can we blame this on Mr Corbyn by any chance . ?

Its been quite difficult to get to the bottom of as there have been so many twists and turns. But I think it is something like this.
To avoid the free movement of ski instructor across the EU the host nations agree to introduce a new test to the ski qualification, the Eurotest
There are grandfathering arrangements for existing top level instructors. An MOU.
Basi, hands some out. Then thinks again and takes them back again. This process is allegedly somewhat vague and inconsistent.
Then it is a classic soap opera twist JR Ewing would be proud of, the alleged abuse of power for personal gain. In a nod to the dramatic tendencies of the genre the news of suspension was passed on in The appropriate way at a meeting. Was it an egm or agm at the ski show in london?
I nearly forgot the police, French courts, British courts, competing businesses in the ame resort and of course the fundamental European free movement of people at the heart of the case. It would appear it is easier for a doctor to operate across borders in Europe than a ski instructor, nuts.
The events and characters in this story are fictional etc etc.
I'm sure this could be a great documentary.

But if you are a snowboarder you do not have to take the Eurotest and can teach skiing

It is not so easy to follow. It is actually a little like war in Syria, many different factions, issues, agendas.

I think Simon Butler may be People's Front of Judiah and BASI have and alliance with the Judian People's Front. Or something is the Popular Front?

I thought it was the other way around?, you could teach snowboarding as long as you were a qualified ski instructor (hence the low skill level of 99% of the esf snowboard instructors)

Even better, the boss of the ESF is now in charge of the French Alps politically. It's payback time Sue Ellen.

Isn't it also alleged that a Board Member of BASI personally stands to gain as he has his own private "ski school" and is an ESF instructor in the resort Simon Butler operates(ed) and that this Board member is the person who has pushed for SB to be fined/punished/banned?

@eddiethebus, I'm not sure about this, but if you are a fully qualified (L4) BASI snowboard instructor, and have skiing as your second discipline, can you teach skiing in France, even if you don't have L4 skiing and haven't done the ET?
