Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anyone else got a large collection of piste maps?

The sad thing is that I think piste map days are numbered. Give it 5 years and it will be all digital.

I doubt it. Piste maps on a phone are too small to be that useful if they show enough of the area at once.

And I can't see many people carrying tablets around and getting them out to view the maps unless and until battery life (particularly in the cold) is significantly extended. I think this will be a slow enough process that it is more likely to be 20 years than 5 before it becomes not worthwhile for the lift companies to produce paper maps.

Maybe ask our Google will have displays built into them? An the new Oakley prototypes? They look interesting

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@cameronphillips2000, @Dr John, I've a box (well, a few boxes) that I put those sorts of things in. One day, when I've retired I shall sort through them.

I've recently framed a Courchevel piste map and I had an Espace Killy one waiting, but it's a bit of a funny shape - long and narrow.

I used to collect carrier bags! I grew up abroad and travelling home to school and when I was 13 or 14 I started keeping the duty free bags because they were quite exotic. Then I kept more as I travelled more widely. They are probably still in my Dad's loft.

Eventually, probably.

But take up of those is not going to make piste maps obsolete within 5-10 years.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Shouldn't have read this thread...... I have a "current" ski folder which goes back "only" about 15 years but I just went up to the loft and found the "older" one which contains my first ski pass from April 1976 (when I first put skis on). Gee, that took me back.....
