Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Help with ski sock jargon!

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've currently got smart wool ski socks which are great, but I've been advised that they are too thick to wear with my new boots (at least for the first week or so) so I need to get some thin socks...

Probably a daft question but in the sock descriptions does 'ultra light' mean thin?! I assume it does but I'm not 100% sure! I've been looking at these ones:

https://www.surfdome.com/burton_socks_-_burton_ultralight_wool_stout_white_snow_socks_-_stout_white-224088

or

Thanks in advance
Very Happy

I feel your confusion rolling eyes

Personally I prefer Falke. Luckily they number their socks 1 to 4. With 4 being the thinnest or as they call it "light volume" Confused

I use smartwool for 6-7 seasons now they do have thin and thicker types most importantly I wear them tight fitting or on the smaller sizing so no bunching takes place once hot over a long day.

I have thin and medium thickness pairs so think the ultralight are the thinner type (which don't last as long in the big toe area in my case but still have not holed they just thinned/stretched out looking see through .

You cant go far wrong with smartwool socks I rate them highly but a thin silk liner sock or even a strong stocking might work over your boot breakin period .

Silk percentage socks are seen alot in Austrian sports stores I noticed .

I have not tried Falke but many rate them highly so what ever is thin and easily available will probably suit boot breakin.

Have a look for Thorlo ski socks, they can be found online, come in different thicknesses, I have 3 pairs, best ski socks I have had, I got the thin ones for my new boots a couple of seasons ago when after a proper boot fitting I dropped 2 and a half mondeo point boot size

Actually they go up to SK5 - http://www.falke.com/uk_en/falke-sk5-men-skiing-socks-kniestruempfe-blau-16563-6712/ Toofy Grin Toofy Grin

I have these. Very thin but with support in the right place and the silk helps with warmth.

@Laurs234,

I think ultra light is what you want. Personally I like the smartwool phds. If the boots are a performance fit then the thinner the better to start with.
