After many years of skiing & some boarding I have come to the conclusion that a long length jacket would be better, for various reasons. Now I know some of the French ski instructors & often the lifties wear them but can I for the life me find any to buy.
Suggestions please, I genuinely don't mind paying good money for something that might last me many years & preferably in black if possible.

Beyond-X do a long coat (sometimes called a coaches' jacket). It's a bit specialised so you don't often see them for sale outside of retailers than stock race gear. I think Incline Sports is the UK agent for Beyond-X. Give Incline a call to see if they can help.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Cptsideways, given you only see mountain pros wearing them when it rains or is really heavy snow, I'm struggling to find why you'd want one?
It's weather I tend to avoid

@under a new name, agreed. If the weather is so bad that you need one of these jackets I'd rather be indoors. Other than that goretex (or similar) jacket and pants will keep most weather out.

I have a fairly light weight one in ripstop nylon, it works well over a softshell jacket.

@Cptsideways, You can get them from any race equipment shop in France, Salomon and Energiapura both do black ones.
Or Incline Sports for Beyond-X in the UK.

Aha a "Coaches Coat" http://www.beyondx.com/?s=coaches+coat made by BeyondX but it appears you can't buy one or I cant find anyone that list prices available in the UK, A BASI pdf lists them available to instructors etc
That is basically what I'm after, it appears to have removable insulation & a clip in hood which is ideal.

@Cptsideways, a long jacket needs to be able to open up at the knees/thighs to allow you to move your legs independently. Just a regular long coat might not do that, but the coaches jackets seem to have a zip up from the bottom and you some extra attachments to allow you to fold the lower part sideways giving more room for your legs to move.
Try Bartlett's as they might have stock or be able to order one for you.

As they say in Scandinavia, there's no bad weather, only bad clothing
