Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anyone got any idea for an alternative to the skullcandy inserts which get pretty bad reviews for sound quality for the price?

Not really that fussed about extensive remote control although perhaps a pause button could be handy. Not really a fan of most earbuds which always fall out of my ears when exercising because I tend to sweat like a hog....

I have some k2 inserts that came in a helmet. Not really used and helmet went back under warranty. Any good?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for the offer but the K2 inserts get the same sort of press as the skull candy

Been looking at the wired outdoor tech which get decent reviews. Bank balance after Xmas won't stretch to the Bluetooth system though.

But, there appears to be a Bern version available for 10 quid less at the moment the looks visually identical apart from the Bern logo. Anyone know if they are the same? Main concern would be the length of the cable connecting the speakers because from what I can tell my helmet is bigger than anything offered by Bern

These absolutely smash any 'helmet specific' cans both in terms of sound quality and price. I have them in my Smith Holt and they work perfectly:

Do they fit inside the audioliner or do you hook them over you ears?

Pull the ear hooks off, they're only clipped on, and then they'll fit in the audio liner.

Skull Candy inserts in my Giro helmet are absolutely fine unless you want a thumping disco in your head. I did use various types of ear plug over the years but they all get a little sore after a few hours, whereas the inserts fit beautifully and I can listen all day. Sure, they won't be of any use outside the helmet at all but they do work.

NB - I do like to be able to hear what's going on around me on the slopes, so they're not ramped up to full volume and I save the noise cancelling Bose ones for the plane and when the wife is drawing out some extended conversation.

It's gotta be Outdoor Techs Audio Chips, available in both Wired and wireless. Excellent sound quality and you can use them to adjust volume/skip/take calls etc all with your gloves on. [/url]

I had a close one this week, I was slowly traversing to stop next to a friend at the side of the piste and just caught the sound of an approaching skier so instinct made me stop about a meter short of him as another skier went between us at mach 2, timing was such that he would certainly have hit me if I hadn't stopped, the helmet that I posess but fortunately, wasn't wearing, covers my ears so I wouldn't have heard him coming.
