Poster: A snowHead

Hi folks,
Well I think my old favourite i-pod is on its way out after 6 years loyal service - the battery life in Austria last year just wasn't cutting it and it was running out towards the end of the day, sometimes not even making it until lunch if I used the remote on it. I have the speakers in my ear pads on my helmet (turned down so that I can hear what's around me and the missus when she wants to change the plan of course!) so I'm not looking for anything that plugs into my ears, just a standard connection to a stereo jack.
Size wise needs to be > 15Gb so that I can get a decent amount of tunes on there and just press shuffle for the day. One of my mates suggested just upgrading my phone, as it is a solid state drive that will withstand the cold weather better, but I'm not due a new one for another year.
Not fussed about brand, just a decent battery life and a decent amount of room. Any thoughts out there please?

I would favour your friends suggestion. Any phone will do the trick as long as there's enough room for music or a card slot. I wasn't even aware that mp3 players are available anymore

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thought about a new battery for the i-pod, but I don't get home until less than a week from my next skiing trip to Breckenridge, so there's not much time to send it off. Might see if I can find somewhere in Glasgow that can do it there and then though!

Sansa clip made by scan disk expandable memory via sd card it tiny and it knocks the socks of other MP3 players 3 or 4 times the price. Just google it and read the reviews

If your current libary and playlist are in iTunes, I'd go for another iDevice, for simplicy. Its a opain the in the back bottom to recreat all that IMO.
All the new devices are solid state from touch, nano or suffle or as other have said, pick your self up an iPhone.

Thanks folks! Just gone and ordered a Sansa Clip sports thingy from Amazon. £40 odd including a case for it. Thought 8GB might be too small, but a decent sd card will easily solve that. A lot of my music is in both i tunes aac and normal mp3 files on a different hard drive so it's no bother using either or. Certainly more than enough tunes to keep me happy skiing or on the poma tows.
Cheers for the help - knew you'd come through.
