Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

BBC promises "innovative, interactive" coverage of 2006 Winter Olympics

With the Turin Games just one month away, the BBC has announced "innovative" and "interactive" coverage of the various events. These channels will be involved:

- BBC Two: 100 hours of coverage, including "StroMotion, never been seen before on British television, provides video footage of an athlete's trajectory and will be used in skating and snowboarding's halfpipe event" ... and "SimulCam is able to provide a composite picture of two different athletes seemingly competing at the same time over the same course to demonstrate where time is won or lost and the different lines taken."

- Digital interactive TV will offer "some 500 hours of programming - up to 15 hours a day - through a choice of up to four extra screens, offering live events and news round-ups"

- Updates on Radio 5 Live

- A dedicated section of the BBC website: www.bbc.co.uk/winterolympics

Let's keep tabs on how they perform. Main presenters will be the "all-women team of Sue Barker, Hazel Irvine and Claire Balding". Commentators will include Graham Bell, in terms of skiing.
