Poster: A snowHead

Hi All,
Talbyem my 16yo daughter has decided she'd like to take her BASI Level 1 snowboard instructor qualification next summer between finishing her GCSEs and starting her A Levels (any tips on what to practice between now and then will be passed on with many thanks!). What sort of snowboard does she need to be riding for the course. Her current board is an Imprivm Elvira Phoenix 143cm which comes to somewhere between her shoulder and chin, its a twintip rocker all mountain type board and having chased her and it all over Les 2 Alps seems to rather on the fast side of snowboards. Will that do the job or does she need to ask Santa for a new one?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

The best bet would be to get her in front of someone who knows the score and work from there. It's tough to know without seeing her board.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks, yep am trying to find one of those pre basi course sessions but the ones I've found so far all run during the week which isn't much use to someone still at school.

A snowboard she is used to will be fine. It ain't skiing where everyone seems to agonise over every course. Foot steering, basic pressure and fore aft balance will be all she needs for BASI1 . If anything work on ability to demo a single trun very slowly with exaggerated movements. Bit of switch riding won't hurt.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks @Dave of the Marmottes, think she should be fine then, as to switch riding she doesn't seem to have a dominant foot, ever since she started aged about 10 its pretty much random which foot she leads with on any given run.

You'll need to Register first of course.

@davkt, keeping a still upper body (not leading with upper body rotation) was the big theme on the course I did. So foot steering as per @Dave of the Marmottes post above will help fro sure.

Cambered board would be better, but anything will be fine for level 1.
