Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Leashes for Scotland?

"now of course leashes might not be the magic answer - but if a "policy" keeps the insurance companies happy (and indirectly lift pass prices down) then it is better just to accept it and move on ? personally I would just stick one in my pocket...."

But its a stupid policy because it does not reduce the risk of those accidents happening, so it won't reduce claims, so it won't keep premiums low.

if the resorts have put specific H+S policy in place then you (rather than resort) are likely liable should your board run away and injure another customer.

as I said before : don't shoot the messenger.
most of the time the policy is not enforced anyway.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I think the messenger is fine: shots not intended to be in your direction. Thanks for trying to explain what to us is insane, we realize it's not your fault. It's hard to get that sort of stuff over on the internet.

In a positive spirit...
If you caused someone to die through your negligence then I think you're going to face proceedings irrespective.
I suppose the insurance company could argue that "had a leash been used... incident would not have happened", but as discussed, that would be very hard to prove because of the way snowboard bindings and leashes work (you can't put the leash on until the binding is on).

I'd guess that they're just out of touch. They probably would like to either ban us, or have us ride behind a skier carrying a red flag.

Not true though. I always put my leash on before strapping in. You just need a long enough leash.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@cad99uk, But the rules do not, as far as we have discussed here, include any stipulation as to leash length.
