Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Woo hoo!
Just booked up for a week in Chalet Eleonore - no cheap pizzas for me this year as it's 4 star (?) and fully catered. Great. Booked up on igluski, but didn't get a discount when I mentioned snowheads sadly.
Anyone been to Alpe D'Huez recently? Good tips for nightlife or exciting runs for a couple of intermediate - good skiers? I'd like to know if anyone has used a guide for off piste this year and how much it cost.
Can't wait - snow reports are fantastic at the moment.
Very Happy

I' say get away from the bowl immediately above ADH itself and you can't go too far wrong. Personal favourites:

down to Villard Reculas from Signal, especially if there is fresh snow - great mix of open powder and some tree skiing. The pistes are good and not too busy too.
motfrais/vaujany area
the glacier from Pic Blanc or Marmottes 3 - lots of fun skiing both on and off piste and you can finish it off by doing the Sarenne

off piste - a guide will probably cost you about £200 for the day. something you might consider is getting an off-piste lesson with the ESF. They can't take you on glaciated terrain so the big runs off Pic Blanc will be off-limits but there is loads of stuff which isn't glaciated. you can get great value from a 2 hour lesson with ESF Vaujany (about 50 euro if I remember correctly). you meet them at the bottom of the Dome des Rousses lift and do stuff off the Dome des Rousses - which has fantastic terrain and feels really mountainous for something with such easy access. Ludo and Philippe are the best guys to ask for.

Have a look at some of the reviews here :- http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/ski-resorts-international/alpe-dhuez-in-general/reviews/

There are some quite good descriptions of runs. Haven't been myself but will also be there 21st-28th Jan.

See you there!
