Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendations For an Instructor In Meribel

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have organised our annual group long weekend ski trip to Meribel for next year. We arrive about noon on the 3rd March and will leave late afternoon on the 7th March. A couple of complete beginners (That is correct they have never put skis on before) have decided to come. I have suggested that they at least go to an indoor slope before we go. When we get to Meribel can anyone recommend a good ski school or private instructor that might be suitable. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Derek or Jojo at Marmalade ski school. Both excellent, as I'm sure are their colleagues in this small school but only skied with these two. Very Happy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I've used Magic in Meribel several times and always been impressed with their instructors. I've always been very happy with Florent for private instruction but if you let them know it's for beginners they'll make sure you get someone suitable.

There's also a BASS ski school there and they've also been good.

Another recommendation for Marmalade, they're all good. In addition to Del and Jojo, Andy is a very patient instructor and Greg and Nick also know their stuff. If you do go with Marmalade let them know that Rob from Inside Out Skiing recommended them and they might be able to offer you a slightly better price than normal Happy

One thing to bear in mind, you'll probably be looking at private lessons for your beginners as you won't be able to slot him win to group lessons which typically run Sun/Mon through to Friday. I don't think you'll find a ski school that runs groups lessons for beginners over a long weekend.

thank you for your replies. I have emailed Marmalade (alas prior to reading your post rob@rar but will mention it when they get back to me )
Very Happy

As you mention we will have to book private lessons but that is not an issue.

I will also email Magic as suggested by olderscot

We rated highly Sam Taylor at Ski Newgen in La Tania. I'm pretty sure he covers Meribel too. Gotta be worth an email to ask.

@spursfan, look up mike Harrison on merinet.com, he has been in meribel for well over 20 years, and was one of the early brits to work for both the ESF and have private clients. I recommended him to my sister in law and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
