The Danno, If you want something to watch, the Downhill Only ski club produced a DVD that is well regarded, might go into a bit too much detail for recreational skiing though.

Actually, I taught myself everything from youtube. There are lots of resources there. Just make sure you have all the gear you need before you start, and always start on edges before waxing.
Its not rocket science although if you get into it there are plenty on nuances to master, at which point getting the one on one tuition might be beneficial.
