Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Seasonaire insurance - multi trip?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm doing the 'grown-up' gap year thing this season in Chamonix but I'm really struggling with insurance.

There is a possibility I'll need to return to the UK a couple of times and a wedding in South Africa. So this excludes most of the 'seasonaire' cover as they are generally single trip only.

Most standard multi-trip policies only cover you for X number of days skiing a year - nowhere near sufficient for a whole season.

Wanting a trip that allows for the majority of the season in France but with some outside trips doesn't seem like an overly unusual request. Feel like I'm missing something!

The only policy that comes close seems to be the BASI one but you have to be a member, which I'm not (no time to do a course before the season starts). I contacted Snowcard and Dogtag direct, neither offer this sort of policy any more despite Dogtag underwriting the BASI policy...

Anyone have any suggestions/better luck?

Thanks in advance!

@dassie473, welcome to Snowhead. Give MPI Brokers a ring. I'm sorting insurance for the while winter and they told me coming home during that period would not be a problem.

@dassie473, I had seasonnaire insurance a couple of years ago with MPI. It was an extra option to have the trips away - I think I paid another £20 on the policy to have up to 2 trips away. So I'd give them another call and try to speak to someone else.

@dassie473 Have you tried a BIBA insurance policy from a general insurance broker? As you are breaking the season up into a series of 'mini-trips' you might find that an Annual insurance that includes winter sports will cover you. I used to have a policy that included multiple ski trips, up to 60 days per trip, but with no limit on the number of trips or days in total. If you get worldwide cover, you're covered for your South Africa trip too. I have also previously used MPI for seasonnaire insurance with 2 trips back during the season, so they certainly used to offer this cover.

MPI will cover up to 62 ski days per ski trip on their annual cover. I've been going through loads of options with them recently Shocked

does it seem more expensive this year? (or is it just George Osborne and his stealth taxing again?)

MPI have confirmed to me by email that I can return to the UK and not break rules of seasonnaire insurance. I'm not having like for like so not sure how prices compare tbh.

Last time I looked the rescue cover (and also third party) had no such limit. There is however an 8 week limit per trip for emergency medical cover, transportation to and between hospitals, and repatriation. Debating whether to take a trip home purely to re-start the 8 weeks, or chance it (relying on EHIC card).

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
