Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Waxing and erm, dust sheets

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
So I decided to try out my new waxing iron (thanks @spyderjon, the initial smoke was disconcerting but it seems fine once whatever was on it had burnt off Shocked ). Covering the floor seemed sensible, so I enquired about dust sheets:

"Well the problem with the dust sheets," he said, "is that they're covered in dust. Don't worry, I'll vac up after you."

That's a nice offer, I thought, I'll carry on then.

...

3 hours later, we are skating around on our freshly waxed kitchen floor, thinking that dust sheets may have been a good plan. Laughing

I found the best solution to in door waxing is plastic dust sheet. No dust, easy to use/fold, and cheap enough to not worry about.

This sort of thing : http://www.amazon.co.uk/SystemsEleven-Polythene-Waterproof-Decorating-Painting/dp/B00U4SEODC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1445148846&sr=8-2&keywords=Plastic+dust+sheet&tag=amz07b-21

@Mosha Marc, I'd love to invest in a new house with a garage, but I appear to have spent all my money on skis and waxing irons Confused

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

This might be heretical but if you have no outdoor space to scrape the wax off I'd let the snow do it. No problem except on some (rare) powder conditions.

I aways lay old newspapers on the floor to catch the wax and ptex drips. If you do not take a daily newspaper then vist your local railway station in the UK. They have boxes of them.

Garages are for storing the skis you don't use any more or haven't got round to mounting yet rolling eyes

if you ever get a large cardboard box, sort of head height flat pack is ideal, then keep a big chunk of it for sticking under skis as you wax and scrape them. makes cleaning up a doddle Smile
