Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Annual Holiday Insurance inc long term skiing

Trying to sort out next year's insurance and would much prefer an annual policy if possible. MPI have been very helpful but best they can offer is annual with max trips of 90 days but 62 days for skiing trips. This would mean too many trips home in the winter just to stick to the limits. Anyone aware of any others? I'm asking french bank what they can offer.

I did the bmc one for a few years good risky sports cover and long term possible but they got very expensive. Have got dog tag now but thinking of trying Austrian AC next time.

@Claude B, wouldn't it be possible to get a seasonnaires insurance with MPI and then a normal policy for the rest of the year?

Have a search for what Weathercam uses, as he is in Serre Che for much of the winter.

Weathercam's looked expensive but I'm comparing against carte neige, not a long term travel insurance.

BMC works out at £400+ and still won't cover me for enough time out of the country in total.

Claude B, What kind of cover do you need ?

I get two or three single-trip policies to cover the times that I will be skiing, I go back to the UK for Christmas and half-term.

@rjs, Out in France skiing, December, then New Year to end of season then 3 months in summer non skiing plus probably 1 more week elsewhere in Europe.

Seasonnaire policy wasn't as expensive as I expected. Will have to weigh up a number of options I think.

I use this, a single trip can be up to 18 months. I switched to it mainly because it gave cover for racing and coaching.

@rjs, Thanks, £330 for one year bronze cover inc 150 days skiing, doesn't seem too bad.

@Claude B,
The Ski Club of GB could be worth a try. We have an annual policy with them for the 2 of us, including unlimited skiing and SCGB membership.

For the record, MPI’s Annual Multi Trip (AMT) policies cover up to 17 days’ skiing per trip, with unlimited trips during the 12 month period. The number of skiing days can be increased to 31 or 60 days per trip as an option. People wanting more than 60 days’ skiing cover for a trip should obtain a Seasonaires or Long Stay policy.

We've been relying on the AAC cover (in conjunction with the EHIC card), with a mid-season trip home to get around the '8 weeks per trip' restriction that applies to emergency medical treatment and repatriation.

@jbob, can I ask you about austrian a.c? What is it?
I am looking for extended ski cover for next year as my annual policy only covers 31 days and I need 36 days on one trip.

@speachmaus, Join the Austrian Alpine club. Mmbership is very reasonable and includes basic mountain rescue, emergency medical, repatriation, transportation between hospitals and third party liability insurance cover for the first 8 weeks of any trip.

I need cover for 5 weeks continuous skiing. My annual policy only covers 31 days total.
I will be spending the 5 weeks in Austria.
But I will need trip cover too for 36 days not just mountain cover.
