Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ortovox 3+ Transceiver package

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Blue Tomato are dropping the Zoom 3+ sets for £235 before P&P, including the beast shovel and a 240cm probe.
Looks like a bargain as the beeper itself the cheapest I've seen it is around £200.

Are the probe and shovel useless or should I be throwing money at this like a British tourist in Amsterdam's Red Light District?

PS I'm fairly set on the 3+ for my choice of transceiver after using one earlier this year..

A probe and shovel are as important as the transceiver. Sod all point in finding someone if you cant dig them out Happy

I have a 320 probe and the Ortovox kodiak shovel which is excellent

@PaulC1984, very true! Although I could use my ski... rolling eyes

This is what I'm eyeing up: http://www.blue-tomato.com/en-GB/product/Ortovox-Avalanche+Rescue+Set+3+-301167018-blue+ocean/

I'm sure lighter options are available but thats not a huge concern for me at present... Happy to pay extra to buy the kit separately if this stuff is garbage.

Not used that shovel or probe but the transceiver has been cracking for me. Very easy to use, which in burials is what you want. Im sure there will be lots of more experienced people along shortly to give their views too.

That's a good deal I paid £265 on snowsafe for the same last year. It all worked well on test runs looking for buried bags, thankfully not used for real yet.
