Hi
work colleague is looking for a resort for Feb/March next year.
8 men. looking for a chalet in a good resort.
Priorities are good night life, and decent skiing.
Budget is in the medium cost range

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

In my experience you want Austria over France, with Ischgl and St Anton basically tying for best apreas in another thread recently.
If it has to be France then avoid the purpose-built, ski-in/ski-out resorts and go for a proper village one like Morzine.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Sauze D'Oulx is the firm Italian favorite but you may struggle with the "chalet" part.

Mayrhofen is a good medium budget option. End of Feb/Early march is normally quite a lively time.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Spyglass, Not sure what you want in terms of nightlife, but Soelden has lap dancing bars and decent skiing. Borovets has cheeper beer and wine (and when I was last there almost 20 years ago, seedy nightclubs as well). I actually thought the skiing was OK for a couple of days.

Kitzbuhel has fantastic skiing and very lively après ski. Resort on the expensive side but still generally cheaper than the big French resorts. Chalets in Austria not that popular though. Most accommodation provided by independent hotel sector.
Val D'Isere ticks the chalet and après ski boxes but is very expensive. However, if good exchange rate continues, this could be a good year to go there. Great resort if willing to splash out.
As per previous post, Mayrhofen a good medium budget option albeit once again, finding chalet accommodation may be an issue.
New bigger, faster Penkenbahn lift should reduce queuing in the morning too.

St Anton as long as you're not hoping to meet girls who have had the sense to see it's full of lads on the lash and gone elsewhere.

Ischgl, St Anton or Val d'Isere get my vote ... although they don't tick the 'medium cost' box.
Saalbach-Hinterglemm is great fun with very extensive skiing (new link to Fieberbrunn opens this season) and I agree you'd like Mayrhofen. Both slightly cheaper options.
But for a skiing and nightlife combo you won't find better than the first three IMHO.

Thanks , no need for lap dancing, i think they just want a lively place with some bars and action , preferably with more singles than families

@Spyglass, single males or females? Chamonix, where the odds are good but the goods are odd...

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Add Saalbach to the list, another of the Austrian big hitters!
