Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pre Xmas Short Break Options?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Possibility of looking at a short break before Xmas, probably sometime between 5th-12th, looking at 4 days boarding on the slopes.

Anyone recommend providers of short breaks before Xmas Tignes/Val Thoren. Those offering deals including set pick ups/drops off from Geneva of most interest and higher is better...

We know mountiansun and have stayed with them before but might like to go right up into Tignes this time, but all options considered.

You might be better with a DIY rather than package, book flight arriving GVA in morning and leaving in evening. Altibus and Bens bus should do daily transfers to Tignes or Val T and look on the likes of booking.com as they are good for specific days ie not Sat to Sat trips. Have a look at PSB they are going to Tignes 28 Nov.

In booking.com you can get apartment for up to 4 in val claret (Tignes highest part closest to glacier) for £130 total for 4 nights

According to Altibus web site they only do Lyon airport to Tignes, not Geneva. Even at that it would be 230 euro for 2 return.

@speachmaus, I've done the route many times so know the DIY options well. Am asking about alternatives (similar to mountainsun) who do short breaks with transfer options pre season. Might be none.

Ok. I don't know of any as I usually do DIY for trips now.
I've seen a company called Ski Weekends they might be useful.
Simply transfers offer 2 people for €210 return. Altibus do go to tignes but I guess they are still on their summer routes on website.

Take your pick from many of the high resorts, accommodation should be offering some really great deals pre-christmas.

@thefatcontroller, try a post on the Chalets Direct Solutions Room, some of the independent chalets might do a short break deal including transfers on such a low season week.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

We had a great pre-Christmas long weekend to St Anton. Fly to friedrichshafen, hire a car & book a hotel. Very reasonable pre-season & we had great snow. IMHO Tignes is a bit of a schlepp from Geneva for just 4 days.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

It's an extra hour to get to Tignes from Geneva, compared to St Anton from Friedrichshafen. Does that hour really make a huge difference in terms of the overall travel time from door to door (especially when you will have a far wider choice of flight times and departure airports if flying to GVA)?

If you're looking at Tignes, then Chalet Chardons in Tignes les Brevs have some pretty cheap looking deals (£129 per person chalet board the week of the 5th) and offer transfers from Geneva for £69 return per person.

Les Brevs is at 1600m but is lift linked and obviously Tignes itself stretches right up towards the sun.

Website is http://www.chaletchardons.com/

Factor in the 1 hour it takes me in the Uk to get to the airport for Geneva as opposed to the 4 hours for Friedblahblah then Tignes is closer?

Not everyone lives in London. Smile
